A Unique Journey from Almond Farms to Construction to Real Estate Success

My path to becoming a real estate investor and entrepreneur is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and a strong foundation rooted in my upbringing on the family farm. I was born and raised on the almond farms of Northern California, and it was alongside this rustic backdrop that my path to entrepreneurship was forged. The daily challenges of farm life nurtured the development of a strong work ethic and personal resilience within me. Consistently facing these challenges provided me with an enduring source of motivation, and the obstacles they presented taught me to approach tasks with utmost efficiency, requiring minimal effort, while still achieving high-quality results. This outlook ultimately laid the groundwork for my future successes.

After finishing school, I worked in various areas in the construction industry such as masonry, welding and fabrication, residential electrical, aircraft, and agriculture irrigation supply. All these experiences prepared me for an 18-year career in the heavy civil construction industry. During these 18 years, I had the opportunity to travel the world while working with many large private companies and government agencies, gaining valuable business knowledge and experience, as well as the art of negotiating.

My journey into the realm of real estate investing and entrepreneurship was a natural progression from the resourcefulness and problem-solving skills I honed on the farm and the experience in the construction industry. Over time, my familiarity with business management deepened, equipping me with the knowledge and expertise needed to navigate the complex world of real estate investing.

My real estate journey started with one two-bedroom and one-bath house, which we rehabbed and rented, and has grown to include over 30 properties that we are currently holding long-term. We’ve completed almost every type of real estate transaction there is, including flips, auctions, retail, rentals, rent-to-own, seller financing, and subject-to deals. I also felt drawn to assist with the affordable housing problem that is plaguing our country by building container homes. Shortly after starting my venture in real estate investing, I realized that to be more efficient and to stay compliant with the CFPB, we needed to become licensed as a Residential Mortgage Loan Origination (RMLO). We are thankful to be able to assist other real estate investors with staying compliant by offering this service to them as well.

The road to self-employment wasn’t an easy one, and I’ve had my share of unforeseen challenges. But success rarely comes without its share of challenges, and my journey was no exception. These struggles served as monumental turning points in my career. They weren’t setbacks; rather, they were opportunities to learn and grow, reaffirming my faith in my abilities as an entrepreneur.

I had always felt the draw to venture out on my own, and I’m blessed to say that my path has taken me from the almond fields of Northern California to the exciting world of real estate investment and entrepreneurship. The lessons learned along the way, on the farm, during a successful career in the heavy civil construction industry and in the dynamic world of real estate, have shaped me into the dedicated, resilient, and resourceful individual I am today. My story is a testament to the fact that with hard work, determination, and reliance on God, one can overcome any obstacle and achieve one’s dreams.
